Nordic Aviation Capital Orders Four Q400 NextGens for AirBaltic

Nordic Aviation Capital of Billund, Denmark has signed a firm order for four Bombardier Q400 NextGen regional airliners. Based on the list price of the Bombardier Q400 NextGen, the manufacturer values the contract at approximately US$134.77 million. European Commission to probe Cyprus Airways aid

European antitrust regulators are evaluating whether Cyprus Airways illegally received more than €100 million ($130 million) in public support. In the meantime, the European Commission has barred the Cypriot government from providing any further public support to the airline without prior approval while it assesses whether a €31.3 million capital increase and €73 million rescue aid loan fall outside of European law. AviancaTaca chooses CFM engines for A320neos

AviancaTaca has chosen CFM International LEAP-1A engines to power the 33 Airbus A320neo family aircraft it has on order. Emirates to transfer cargo fleet to Dubai World Central Airport

Emirates will transfer its cargo fleet from Dubai International Airport to Dubai World Central Airport (DWC), president Tim Clark said on the sidelines of the ITB tourism fair in Berlin. EasyJet-Transaero ink agreement

UK budget carrier EasyJet will launch London Gatwick-Moscow Domodedovo flights March 18 after reaching an agreement with Russia’s Transaero Airline. EasyJet will also launch Manchester-Moscow flights from March 28. Brazil’s antitrust regulator approves Azul-Trip merger

Brazil’s antitrust agency, CADE, has approved the merger between Azul and TRIP Linhas Aereas. The new joint carrier will become the third largest in Brazil after market leaders TAM Airlines and GOL. Azul and TRIP operate a combined fleet of 118 aircraft and fly to 102 domestic destinations. According to the National Civil Aviation Agency, the two carriers make up 16.4% of Brazil’s domestic market share.
