Emirates reports 52% jump in profits

The Dubai-based Emirates airline says its annual net profit rose by 52% as the carrier’s fast growth outpaced rising fuel costs. Emirates said Thursday that the airline posted $622 million in net profit in the 2012-2013 fiscal year. Turkish Airlines reported 2012 annual net income of TRY1.13 billion ($632.3 million), up from TRY19 million in the year-ago period. Cathay Pacific Group reported a net profit of HK$916 million ($118 million) for 2012, down 83.3% from a HK$5.5 billion profit in the year-ago period.
